News

Summa Defence’s subsidiary Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy is building vessels at two shipyards located in Uusikaupunki and Olkiluoto, Finland. The Uusikaupunki shipyard is currently engaged in the construction of two offshore patrol vessels, being built in cooperation with the Meyer Turku shipyard. The hull of the most recent vessel arrived at the Uusikaupunki yard at the turn of the year, and work on the offshore patrol vessels is progressing well before the winter holidays.

In addition, two service vessels for offshore wind farms are being built in Uusikaupunki, with the commissioning of one of them currently underway.

Uudenkaupungin Työvene bought the Olkiluoto shipyard in June 2025, immediately following Summa Defence’s listing. In Olkiluoto, two battery-hybrid passenger vessels are being built for Sweden’s west coast, operating out of Strömstad.

The combined workforce of the shipyards is approximately 500 employees, including Uudenkaupungin Työvene’s own personnel and subcontractors. Demand in the professional and specialized vessel market remains strong, providing good conditions for the long-term development of operations.

News

Nearly 20 Watermaster eco-dredgers have been delivered to India in recent years. The latest machine has begun the work on the Yamuna River in New Delhi, a city of over 25 million people.

The Yamuna is one of India’s most important rivers, but it faces heavy pressure from untreated wastewater, sludge and solid waste. The Najafgarh drain has been described as carrying nearly 70% of the pollution load entering the Yamuna.

Dredging operations have now officially started in the Najafgarh drain. The amphibious multipurpose Watermaster eco-dredger is removing silt and sludge and clearing aquatic weeds and waste.

The goal is to reduce the load reaching the Yamuna and support flood management ahead of the monsoon season.

The new local government of New Delhi has identified Watermaster technology as a key tool to improve water security in the region. New Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh visited Finland in late 2025 and now inaugurated the new Watermaster on the Yamuna River a couple of weeks ago.
